John Hooper was born circa 1762 in Buckingham County, Virginia. The newspaper notice of his death in 1831 stated his age as 71 years which would indicate a birth year of 1760. John Hooper was on the tax list in 1783 in Buckingham County, Virginia. He appeared on this tax list as a white tithe, one of two over the age of twenty-one, in the household of his father.
