MIGRATION: 1635 on the Abigail (on 26 June 1635, "Jo[hn] Harbert," aged 23, shoemaker, with a certificate of conformity from the mayor and two justices of Northampton, was enrolled at London as a passenger for New England on the Abigail [Hotten 91]).
REMOVES: Southold by 1652 (when he witnessed a deed [Southold TR 1:158-59]).
OCCUPATION: Shoemaker (in England) [Hotten 91]. Trader (on 31 March 1646, William Pead wrote from Barbados to tell Gov. John Winthrop that "Mr. John Harbert is lately arrived from the Leeward Islands" [WP 5:70-71]; the largest item in his inventory was "a vessel of about 12 tons with all her furniture and rigging" valued at £80, as well as "3 yards 1/2 trading cloth [and] 13 Indian coats" valued at £15 and wampum valued at £3 [Southold TR 1:440]).
