"… John Hayward, … born ca. 1639. He was a merchant at Roxbury and died shortly before 8 Feb 1695/6 when Experience was appointed administrator on his estate. John was a shopkeeper in 1691. As for the children, the settlement of their father's estate on 9 June 1711 named John, only son, Mary Radley late Hayward, Experience, Silence, Mehetabel, and Rachel Hayward. John, Experience, Silence and Mehetabel signed an 'acquittance' on that day. … [footnote] John was 'aged thirty four yeares or threabout' when he deposed on 25 July 1674 (Records of the Suffolk County Court, 1671-1680, in Publications of the Colonial Society of Massachusetts, 29:455). He was age 33 years in a deposition on 28 Nov. 1672 and 45 in another dated 8 Jan. 1684 (Suffolk County Deeds, 8:29; 13:253)."
