6.JOHN HAMILTON 2.ROBERT HAMILTON 1.WILLIAM HAMILTON

John Hamilton, a son of Robert and Margaret (McKee) Hamilton, was born in Augusta County VA in 1748 and died in Greenbrier County VA in September 1818. He was at the battle of Point Pleasant and served as a quartermaster Captain in the Revolution. He married Rebecca Laverty September 10, 1786. Rebecca, a daughter of Ralph and Sarah (Given) Laverty, was born in 1766 and died in 1817. The family moved from Rockingham County VA to present day Nicholas County WV about 1810.
