American Revolution Veteran


John was a private in the American Revolution, colonel of Sussex militia in 1793[1][2]. Esther d. 25 Aug 1793 aged 26years and is buried in Frankford Plains Cemetery. John m. (2) Sarah Allen daughter of Thomas Allen of Hardwick and they were the parents of six sons. John was elected member of New Jersey Assembly in 1798[5]. He was appointed sheriff, Oct 1806[5] and was a Colonel in War of 1812, stationed Sandy Hook, New Jersey. He was a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, 18 Feb 1818. Director of Sussex Bank[1], and first postmaster at Augusta. John d. 11 Apr 1830 aged 70 years. He is buried in Frankford Plains Cemetery[6].
