John was born in Budapest, Hungary. He immigrated about 1875 to U.S. and is in Minneapolis by 1877. His first occupation was a cooper. He married at age 23 to Mary Chesney at St. Boniface Church in NE Mpls. He may have known some of her brothers. In early 1890’s they are living in So. Mpls. near the Mississippi river. They attend St. Elizabeth Catholic church and the children attend Steward School. His saloon and retail liquor business was run near gateway park in downtown Mpls. The soda water bottling moved to NE in the late 1890’s. He was a busy business man and known in NE area. He suffered a general health disability for the last 4 years of his life.


John was born in Budapest, Hungrey and immigrated in 1875 at the age of 15.
