One source gives his birthdate as 1768. If this is true his mother wou ld be Catherine Mosser/Musser. John migrated to Pulaski County, KY in 1798-1799 where he was a farmer. M any years later he and some of his family removed to Jackson County, AL . John, his wife, and one daughter lie buried in the Jacoway Cemetery in D ry Cove off Highway 117 in Crow Creek Valley. Hannah purchased a tombs tone for her husband; bought tombstones are very rare int he greater St evenson (Alabama) community before the 1840's. John Copenhaver was somewhat affluent, owning land and slaves. The eme tery where he is buried should be called the Copenhaver Cemetry as John G ave the land for it and is the first buried there, but it goes by the n ame Jacoway Cemetery becuse his daughter Mary who married Wiliam U. Jac oway inherited the old Copenhaver place; both mary and William are buri ed in the cemetery, hence the name. ("The Stevenson Story" by Eliza B.
