"John (Champney, b. Cambridge 28 May 1641 [NEHGR 4:55]; d. 20 February 1664[/5| [CaChR 13). On 4 April 1665, 'Mr. Richard Champnyes and Josias Convars, … administrators of the estate of Jno. Champny,' ordered distribution of the estate as follows: 'to his two sisters by his father and mother, the land of his at Billerica, which amounts to fifty pounds, also we order that ten pounds that is in his father Moore's hand shall be given to his 3 sisters by his mother, also a cow to his mother, also a yearling colt to Daneel Champney, also to Mr. Mitchell five pounds, also to Elder Frost fifty shillings, also for a debt to Josiah Convars five pounds, to John Squire a cloth suit, a chest and musket and an ax' [MPR 2:281-82]. (The distribution of £10 is to his three younger Moore half-sisters.) … The births of John Champney's children were listed in the town records, as submitted to the colony clerk, as children of Richard and Joan Champney [i.e., see here ], but the impossible conflicts of dates and the similarities of given names for the wives of Richard and John lead to the conclusion that the births of children to these two couples were grouped together and all assigned incorrectly to Richard."
