Husbandman", dated 23 Nov 1737, proved 6 Mar 1737[/38], names son Samuel Brown, son Jonathan Brown, son Bartholomew Brown, son Nathanel Brown, desire friend John Balch Junior of Beverly act for son Bartholomew a minor, desire friend Jonathan Batchelder of Salem to act for son Nathanel. Son Samuel to be executor.
    8 Mar 1737/8: Inventory of the Real and Personal Estate of mr John Brown late of Salem Deceas'd, by Joshua Dodge, Gideon [Rea?], Benjamin Herrick.
    9 Jun 1738: Agreement of heirs dividing real estate: "where as Mr John Brown of Salem ... Did Give unto his four Sons Namely Samuel Jonathan Bartholomew & Nathaniel all his Lands nott allready in said will Disposed of to be equally divided betwixt them ... John Balch Junior of Beverly to act in the name stead and behalf of his son Bartholomew a minor ... Jonathan Batchelder of Salem to act in the name stead and behalf of his son Nathaniel another minor ... said Samuel Brown haveing purchased his brother Jonathan Browns part and Interest [by a deed dated 8 Mar 1737/8] ... firstly [to] the said Samuel Brown [his half part] ... secondly [to] the said Bartholomew Brown [his quarter part] ... thirdly [to] the said Nathaniel Brown [his quarter part]". Signed by Samuel Brown, Jonathan Brown, John Balch jun, Jonathan Batchelder.

Did appoint and Impower John Balch Junior of Beverly & Jonathan Batchelder of Salem as agents to act for and in behalfe of his two sons which are minors Namely the said John Balch to act in the stead Name and behalfe of his Son Bartholomew a minor and the said Jonathan Batchelder to act in the name stead and be half of his Son Nathaniel another minor ... two agents to act in conjunction with ye said Samuel Brown and Jonathan in Makeing and perfecting a Division of said personal Estate according to said will and that a Division there of so made and perfected..."
