    John (Brown), Reading, m. 12 or 18 Oct. 1659, Eliz. d. of John Osgood of Andover, had Eliz. b. 5 Oct. 1660, d. soon; Eliz. again, 22 Dec. 1661; Sarah, 3 Aug. 1664, d. young; Sarah, again, 19 Nov. 1667, d. young; Mary, 30 May 1671, d. at 2 yrs.; and his w. d. 31 July 1673. He was capt. freem. 1679, rep. 1679, 80, 2, and 3; d. 1717 aged 81.
    [Note: there are two John Brownes in Reading at the same time. The other one was Capt., d. 1717. Which one held town offices is indeterminate, though one might presume it was the Capt., and clearly Savage's knowledge seems lacking.]

    Will of "John Browne of Reading ... yeoman", dated 18 May 1709, proved 23 Aug 1714, names daughter Elezebeth Hazelton, daughter Hanah Parker, daughter Martha ffarington, daughter Mary Brown [later referenced as "Mary Browne"], son Nathaniel Browne, son John Browne [only 5 s. because "he is a stuborn Dissobedantt And a Rebelious son to me"]. Son in law John Parker to be executor.

    29 Jul 1714: Sarah Browne of Reding ... Relect widdo of John Browne late of Redding deceased for valluable sum secured by a bond baring hand of my son in law John Parker of Andiver plus 1/3 of household goods quitclaim all right to estate of my s'd husband John Browne.

Whether he was related to Nicholas aforesaid doth not appear. He m., 1st, 1659, Elizabeth, dau. of John Osgood, of Andover. Child.: Elizabeth, b. 1660, and d. early; Elizabeth, b. 1661, and m. 1684, Benja.
