part of the Early Families of Douglas Co. Washington Project [1] 26 Jun 1913 A reception and dance was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Gritsch about three miles north of town by the Gritsch and Brennesholtz families in honor of Mr. and Mrs. John Gritsch who returned from a honeymoon trip to Spokane. Early in the evening the invited guests began to arrive from all directions in autos and buggies. Waterville, we believe, furnished the greater part of the crowd and when all had arrived there was between $40,000 and $50,000 represented in automobiles. Dancing began about 9:30 followed by a lunch shortly after twelve. There were in the neighborhood of 300 present, and one would think that it would be impossible to provide this number with food, but Mesdames Gritsch and Brennesholtz evidently knew what the crowd would be and had plenty and to spare and several large cakes were left untouched - 40 having been baked for the occasion.
