John2 Breed (Allen1) was born, probably at Lynn, about 1634, and died at Lynn, 28 June 1678 (LVR). He married, first, at Lynn, 23: 10: 1663, Sara(h) Hathorne, who was bpt. at Salem, Mass., 2 June 1644 (Salem VR); and died at Lynn, "about 22 November 1676" (LVR). She was the daughter of John and Sarah Hathorne. John Breed married, second, at Lynn, 4 March 1677/8, Sarah Hart; a marriage that lasted only three months. John Breed served in King Phillips (Indian) War, being sent to the Mt. Hope region. On 23 August 1675, he was credited with two pounds for his service of five weeks. He was a grantee of land in Narragansett Township No. 2 (now Westminster, Mass.) (George Bodge, Soldiers in King Philip's War, 417/8). John Breed died Intestate. Administration was granted to his brother Allen2, on 24 September 1678 (Essex Probate, 3218).

Bread, John, [died] June 28, 1678.

  3. According to the Pulloxhill parish registers, John's two known older siblings were baptized there, Elizabeth in December 1634, but there is no record of his baptism. That indicates that he was likely not born before the family left Pulloxhill, and the date of his first marriage (1663) makes a birth as late as 1638 not at all unlikely.
