    "ORIGIN: Kent
MIGRATION: 1635 on the Elizabeth & Ann
    FIRST RESIDENCE: Watertown
BIRTH: Baptized Headcorn, Kent, 22 February 1606/7, son of Matthew and Joan (_____) Borden (NEHGR 84:227].
DEATH: Soon after arrival in New England, probably late 1635 or early 1636. …

Brother of Richard Borden who settled in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, by 1638. …

'John Borden,' aged 28, his wife 'Joan,' aged 23, 'Mathew Borden,' aged 8 [5], and 'Eliz(abeth) Borden,' aged 5 [3], were enrolled at London on 12 May 1635 as passengers for New England on the Elizabeth & Ann [Hotten 78].

Savage says that 'in 1650 one of the name is found at Stonington, whence he perhaps removed 1660, to Lyme,' and Pope says that the immigrant 'took oath of fidelity in 1652.' This was John Borden, the son of the immigrant."

"John (Borden), bapt. at Headcorn 22 Feb. 1606/7. He inherited his father's land in Smarden, co. Kent. Probably he was the John Borden who m. at Headcorn, 21 Apr. 1629, Elizabeth Clagget, who must have d. soon afterwards, as [apparently not since he married Joanna Hooker 16 February 1628/29] he appears in 1635 on the shipping list of the Elizabeth & Ann, bound for New England, aged 28 years, with a wife Joan, aged 23 years, a son Matthew, aged 8 [Hotten says 5] years, and a daughter Elizabeth, aged 3 years. Nothing is known of him in New England."
