Will of "John Atkinson Sen'r of ye Town of Newbury", dated 26 Jun 1713, filed in court 29 Sep 1716, mentions sons John and Nathaniel only, "having given each of my children their full Share or portion of my worly goods in my lifetime before this day". Refers to his "unker Atkinson late of Boston deceased" [Theodore], and also a Theodore Atkinson of New Castle, New Hampshire [son of Theodore].

   John Atkinson b. abt. 1640 [deposed age 28 in 1668 - b. 1640; and age 40 in 1676 - b. 1636; and age 44 in 1678 - b. 1634) probably Suffolk or Lancashire, England (may be the John, son of James Atkinson, bp. 16 Sep 1638 in Bury, Lancashire), d. Newbury, Mass, bet 28 Jun 1713 [date of will] and 29 Sept 1716 [will proved], m. (1) Newbury 27 Apr 1664 Sarah Myrick, m. (2) Newbury 3 Jun 1700 Hannah (Noyes) Cheney. Many authorities make him son of Theordore, but proof exists that he was his nephew, not his son.
