  8. ↑ this being primarily derived from his burial saying he was 90 and the 1861 showing him as 84, partially supported by the 1851 census showing John as 72. The 1841 census rounded down age was 60, so 1776 to 1781 which also fits. No record of baptism, but is assumed to be eldest son of Thomas Andrews and Betsy Ralph.
    (Janice states that "according to some present day Andrews descendants, John Snr lived to the ripe old age of 99", this is assumed to be a misprint for 90 given it takes his birth back to 1768, 11 years prior to parent's marriage)
