2 sons over 16 and 2 sons less than 16 in 1790 census.

3 females (daughters?) in 1790 census.

One Yarger history says a George Joerger served in the Revolutionary War. I am not sure the Revolutionary soldier is this George Jurger, however. The 1790 census lists two George Jerger/Yaegers and both lived in Bern. One had five sons (three over age 16) and 2 daughters and the other had four sons (two under the age of 16) and 3 daughters. Which is which, I do not know.

There is a George Yerger enumerated in Reading in the 1800 census. We know that George, son of Sibilla, was living in Reading in 1793-1795 when he administered her estate after her death in Hamburg.

Ages are presumably their ages on 4 August 1800 when the census started.

George Yerger (head) 3 males under 10 years (b. aft. 4 Aug 1790) (unknown Yerger) (unknown Yerger) (unknown Yerger) 2 males 10 thru 15 (b. bef. 4 Aug 1790 and aft. 4 Aug 1785) (Johannes Yerger b. 10 Feb 1788) (William Yerger b. 10 Mar 1790) 1 males 16 thru 25 (b. bef. 4 Aug 1785 and aft. 4 Aug 1775) (unknown Yerger) 1 males 26 thru 44 (presumably George b. 23 Jun 1758) (b. bef 4 Aug 1775 and aft 4 Aug 1755) 0 male 45 or over

2 females under 10 (b. aft. 4 Aug 1790) (Ann Maria b. 31 Dec 1797) (unknown Yerger) 0 female 10 thru 15 (b. bef. 4 Aug 1790 and aft. 4 Aug 1785) 0 female 16 thru 25 (b. bef. 4 Aug 1785 and aft. 4 Aug 1775) 1 female 26 thru 44 (b. bef. 4 Aug 1775 and aft. 4 Aug 1755) (wife Magdalena Rosch) 0 female 45 or over (b. bef. 4 Aug 1755)

There is a male at least 16 years old in 1800. If this male is a son of Magdalena, and Magdalena is abt the age of George, i.e., abt 42, then she would have been 42-16 = 26 when son was born. Okay. She could have been 7 years younger and still been 18 when married.

Youngest child is probably less than one year old since there are 5 younger than 10. Assume one born in late 1790, then one in 1792, 1794, 1796, 1798, and early 1800. (could have been twins somewhere) So, Magdalena might be 42 in 1800 or perhaps as young as 35 years of age. Okay.

So, what does this tell us?

Is this the right family? Maybe. The family is consistent with the known facts and speculated members. If it is the correct family then there may be at least 4 more males and 1 more female that we have not located. Also, Magdalena is still a possible mother of other children. Are there other candidate George-Yerger-families for this enumeration? Are there other enumerations which could be the family of George and Magdalena? We would benefit from knowledge of additional children of this family.

There is a George Yerger enumerated in Reading in the 1810 census. This seems to be the same George that was in Reading in 1800.

Ages are presumably their ages on 6 August 1810 when the census started.

George Yerger (head) 0 males under 10 years (b. aft. 6 Aug 1800) 1 male 10 thru 15 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1800 and aft. 6 Aug 1795) (unknown Yerger b. bef 1800) 1 male 16 thru 25 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1795 and aft. 6 Aug 1785) (unknown Yerger) b. bef 1800 0 males 26 thru 44 (b. bef 6 Aug 1785 and aft 6 Aug 1765) 1 male 45 or over (b. bef. 6 Aug 1765) (presumably George b. 23 Jun 1758)

1 females under 10 (b. aft. 6 Aug 1800) (unknown Yerger daughter b. aft 1800) 1 female 10 thru 15 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1800 and aft. 6 Aug 1795) (Ann Maria b. 31 Dec 1797) 1 female 16 thru 25 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1795 and aft. 6 Aug 1785) (unknown Yerger dau. in 1800 census) 0 female 26 thru 44 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1785 and aft. 6 Aug 1765) 1 female 45 or over (b. bef. 4 Aug 1765) (wife Magdalena Rosch)

One male between 10 and 20 years of age has either died or left home. The other two in this age range are still at home.

An older son between 26 and 35 has vanished. It appears that at least one young new George Yerger has appeared in PA. I believe that we might expect a son of George to be named George, especially since the immigrant to America was George who left the senior George of this paragraph a substantial inheritance. We know that my George Yerger, son of Johannes and Catharine Yerger, has married and is about somewhere with 2 or 3 children.

The two females between 10 and 20 appear to still be at home.

A new daughter was born after 4 August 1800 and appears to be the last of Magdalena's children. Magdalena is now 45 or over.

Enumerated adjacent to George Yerger and family (and on either side) were John and Wm Yerger, whose names match names that I had from Judy Morgan for two of George's sons.

John Yerger (head) 1 male under 10 years (b. aft. 6 Aug 1800) (unknown Yerger son b. aft 1800) 0 male 10 thru 15 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1800 and aft. 6 Aug 1795) (William Yerger b. 10 Mar 1790) 0 male 16 thru 25 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1795 and aft. 6 Aug 1785) 1 males 26 thru 44 (b. bef 6 Aug 1785 and aft 6 Aug 1765) (presumably John b. 10 Feb 1788) 0 male 45 or over (b. bef. 6 Aug 1765)

1 females under 10 (b. aft. 6 Aug 1800) (unknown Yerger daughter b. aft 1800) 0 female 10 thru 15 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1800 and aft. 6 Aug 1795) 1 female 16 thru 25 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1795 and aft. 6 Aug 1785) (wife of John ?) 0 female 26 thru 44 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1785 and aft. 6 Aug 1765) 0 female 45 or over (b. bef. 4 Aug 1765)

Wm. Yerger (head) 0 males under 10 years (b. aft. 6 Aug 1800) 0 male 10 thru 15 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1800 and aft. 6 Aug 1795) 0 male 16 thru 25 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1795 and aft. 6 Aug 1785) 0 males 26 thru 44 (b. bef 6 Aug 1785 and aft 6 Aug 1765) 0 male 45 or over (b. bef. 6 Aug 1765)

0 females under 10 (b. aft. 6 Aug 1800) 0 female 10 thru 15 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1800 and aft. 6 Aug 1795) 0 female 16 thru 25 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1795 and aft. 6 Aug 1785) 0 female 26 thru 44 (b. bef. 6 Aug 1785 and aft. 6 Aug 1765) 0 female 45 or over (b. bef. 4 Aug 1765)

All fields are blank, even age for Wm. Yerger. He was apparently not married.
