Gender Female
Birth? 11 Dec 1862 Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
Marriage to Paul Max Wilhelm Schröder
Death? 13 Sep 1945 Voorburg, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands

Johanna Cornelia Wijnberge was born in Amsterdam on December 11, 1862 as the eldest daugher of Hermanus Wijnberge and Johanna Cornelia Schwier. At the age of 10, her younger sister was born. Beyond that, we don't know anything about her youth.

Sometime between 1890 and 1900, she moved to Vlissingen with her family and by 1892 she was presumably married to Paul Max Wilhelm Schroder and gave birth to twins in London. Where they met and got married and why they moved to London is unclear. She didn't stay long in London, however. A picture of her twins from Amsterdam around 1895 and records from Vlissingen from 1898 show that she ultimately moved back to Vlissingen, where she and her husband started a hotel in the early 1900s. Her son got married in 1917 and left the family business, starting out as a waiter, first in Dordrecht and ultimately settling in Amsterdam. After her husband passed away in 1919, Johanna took over the running of the hotel with the help of her daughter and, briefly, her son. She retired from the hotel in 1926 and handed it over to her daughter and moved to Amsterdam to live with her son until 1928 and Leiden thereafter. She passed away in September 1945, months following the liberation of the Netherlands from Nazi occupation, in Voorburg.
