Johan (Ligon) Hancock, wife of Robert Hancock made a deposition in 1683 in which she gave her age as 30 years. From this we know that she was born in 1653. She survived her husband by 17 years and made her will, to which she singed her name "Johan" on Feb 22, 1726. The will was probated in Henrico County Nov 7, 1726. It was witnessed by Mary Elam, Mary Dudley, Arthur Moseley, Jr. The will refers to daughter Sarah Moseley, Mary Hatcher and Joan Hancock and son Robert Hancock. Robert and Johan (Ligon) Hancock had 7 children: William, Robert, Sarah, Mary, Phoebe, and Elizabeth.
