Thomas Gardiner and Lucy Smith, who were married in Roxbury, Norfolk, Mass July 04, 1641, were her parents. Thomas was born about 1615 in England and died July 15, 1689 in Roxbury. Lucy was born in 1620 in England and died April 6, 1687 or November 4, 1687 in Brookline or Roxbury, Mass.

THOMAS, Roxbury, s[on]. prob[ably]. of Thomas of the same, b[orn]. in Eng[land]. m[arried]. 4 July 1641, if the rec[ord]. be distinct, Lucy Smith, had Andrew, b[orn]. 5 Mar. 1642, bef[ore]. ment[ioned].; Thomas, 1645, a wrong mo[nth]. being giv[en]. in the rec[ord].; Abigail, bapt[ized]. 15 Feb. 1646, d[ied]. Aug. 1649; Mary, bapt[ized]. 9 Apr. 1648; Peter, 8 Dec. (tho[ugh]. town rec[ord]. has Sept.) 1650, and he d[ied]. 24 Aug. 1653; Abigail, again, b[orn]. 6, bapt[ized]. 26 Dec. 1602; Lucy, 11 Feb. 1655; Joanna, 25 Jan. 1657; Joshua, 8 May 1659; and Caleb, 13 Apr. 1662, d[ied]. at 19 y[ea]rs. Neither of the last five is named by Ellis, nor are the last three found in town rec[ords]. Perhaps, as his resid[ence]. was in that part of Boston, call[ed]. Muddy river, the cl[er]k. did not think he was of R[oxbury]. He was freem[an]. 1646; and his w[ife]. d[ied]. 4 Nov. 1687, and he d[ied]. 15 July 1689; in his will, made three days bef[ore]. provides for Thomas, and Joshua; beside d[aughter]s. Mary, wh[o]. m[arried]. 13 Dec. 1665, Thomas Boylston; Abigail, w[ife]. of Rev. John Wise; Joanna Stanton; and Lucy Monk.
