Birth record reads Jilles Dijkstra (no middle name) as does his own entry in the family bible, but the accompaning affadavit and another later by a family friend list him as Yilles or Jilles Liewes Dykstra

Emmigration date is confused. Pete and Tillie give 27Jun1887 on citizenship applic. DD's applic says 5 May 1886. An affidavit by a friend of the family says they came over in '89 and John and Anna were naturalized on 20 Feb 1895, but he has some other dates wrong as well. Pudwill says S.J.D was born Jan 1888, if true rules out 89 and makes even 88 unlikely. Non of the children were old enough that it is likely they came at different times. Anna's obit says 1887

A Dutch web site www.frieslandwonderland.nl, has lists of emigres by town, found John and Gerben, Douwe, Lieuwe, and Pieter, all w/ b. dts but no emmig. date. Found Tietje, b. 23 nov 1884, "left for: USA-Unidentified Region, 10 mei 1887"

(Research):Jeanne Odens writing to Trudy in 1987 said "John and Anna owned their house at 1101 Center St. in LeMars, so I am hoping to learn when they purchased it: . . .etc."

Find A Grave lists place of death as Yankton, not on stone. Pudwill implies as much, taken to Yankton Hospital where leg amputated after a fall, died "shortly thereafter"

Didn't they have time to bring him home?
