WINANS - Suddenly on the 13th last, after an illness of sixteen hours, at his home in Richmond tp, Jesse Winans, aged 71 years.

Mr. Winans was one of Richmond township's oldest citizens, he having resided upon the same farm for the past forty-two years, honored and respected by all who knew him. He was a confiding friend, charitable to a fault, and one from whom the needy were never turned away empty. He ever extended a helping hand to the sick and afflicted ones. In his death we have lost an obliging neighbor and friend, one whose advice and counsels were respected. The family circle lost a kind husband and father, whose interest in the welfare of his children was unbounded, and whose example is worthy of imitation. Firmly established in his belief to the end, he has passed within the portals of a fairer clime. The grasses may grow upon the mound beneath which his dear head is resting, but his virtues cannot be concealed from us.
