  3. Jesse Murphy died at his home in this city Wednesday morning, April 14, at one o'clock. His age was 83 years, 4 months and 26 days.

The funeral services were private and were held at the home Thursday afternoon, April 15, at half-past one o'clock, in charge of Rev. Chas. A. Rice, pastor of the Baptist church. Thursday forenoon from 10 to 12 o'clock friends were allowed to view the remains. Interment was in Bushnell Cemetery.

Jesse Murphy was born in Ashland County, Ohio, Nov. 18, 1825. With his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Murphy, he came west to Fulton county, this state, and he lived there until just before the civit war broke out. He then came to this township and located on a farm two miles north of Bushnell. After living there twelve years he moved to a farm six miles east of this city, where he resided until he moved to Bushnell, some eight years ago.

Oct 9, 1845, Mr Murphy was united in marriage with Miss Mary O. Dunawain, who survives him. To this union were born five children, four of whom are living. One daughter, Mrs. Ellen J. Bradbury, is dead. Those who survive their father are Mrs. Laura McKnight of St. Joseph, Mo., Miss Emma Murphy, Henry Murphy and Mrs. Mary Florey of Bushnell. Mr. Murphy was the youngest of thirteen brothers and sisters, and was the last survivor of the family. He and his good wife were permitted to travel life's pathway together for more than sixty-three years.

Mr. Murphy was a good citizen. He was upright, honest and straight-forward, and by his industry he had accumulated considerable property and was enabled to spend his declining years in comfort. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of all in their affliction
