The identity of this Jesse Ice is uncertain. It seems likely that he is identical with either Jesse Ice (son of Jesse and Margaret (Lowe) Ice) or Jesse Ice (son of Eli and Lucinda Catherine (Wright) Ice).

This Jesse is usually identified as the Jesse Ice born 14 Feb 1859 to Jesse and Margaret Ice. However, Jesse and Margaret Ice do not have a son Jesse in either the 1860 or 1870 censuses, so their son may have died young. Also, their son was born in February, and the Jesse who married Mary Keck gave his birth month as April in the 1900 census.

Only one Jesse Ice of his approximate age could be found in West Virginia in the 1880 census, a 19-year-old farm laborer boarding in the household of George and Sarah Ice. This is likely Jesse Ice, the son of Eli and Lucinda Catherine (Wright) Ice, who was George's first cousin. It is possible that he is the same person as this Jesse Ice (who married Elizabeth and then Mary). The middle initial of the son of Eli and Lucinda Catherine (Wright) Ice is given as "T", but I have seen no source for this initial.

If this Jesse is identical with Jesse Ice (the son of Eli and Lucinda), then he either divorced or abandoned his first wife (Minerva Jane Cunningham), as she identified herself as a widow in the 1900 census. Also, in the 1910 census, this Jesse indicated that he was on his second marriage, which would not have been true if he is identical with the husband of Minerva Cunningham.

Based on the limited information easily available online, it cannot be claimed with any certainty which Jesse (if either) is identical with this Jesse Ice.

Jesse Ice, laborer, died May 22 1929 in the Weston State Hospital from senile dementia, age about 68

His marital status is given as married. Either he married after Mary died or, if he had been in the hospital a while, the hospital did not update their records when his wife died.
