Based on Descendants of Jeremiah Cowan:
Jeremiah Cowan was born in 1768 in Old 96th district, SC. He married Elizabeth Hayes on 24 January 1788 in Old 96th District. The couple were living in Morganfield, Union County Kentucky by 1820, where they lived out their lives, raising three daughters and two sons. Jeremiah died October 1822, and Elizabeth died in 1856. Both were buried in the family cemetery on their property, now known as the Holeman-Cowan cemetery., Union County KY.

Cowan, 4 X Great Grandson.I Jeremiah Cowen of the state of Kentucky and County Of Union Being very sick and weak in body But of perfect mind and memory - Therefore (alling) to mind the mortalbly of my Body And knowing that is appointed for all men once to Die do make and :ordain this my Last Will and Testament herey revoking and utterly disannulling all former Wills Ratifying and Confirming this my last will and testament.
- And first of all I give and re commend my soul to Almighty God that gave it and my Body to be Buried in decent Christian burial at the un creation of my Executing nothing doubling but at the eminent Resurrection I shall reown it again by this mighty power of God—And as touching such worldly Estate where with I :hath / land God to Bless me within this life.
- I am / was of the sums in this following manner and from first I approved Elizabeth Cowin my dearly Beloved wife and William Cowin my son my Executing and after paying my Just debts the balance to Remain in the hands of the Executing for the timeful of raising and taking care of my infant children till they arrive :of age And then to be Equally divided amongst all my children and wife.

YDNA dissimilarity comparisons show that this kitmatches kits 162433, 83808, 238865 and 107609, at 4.2% to 6.7% dissimilarity in 12 marker tests. These kits have been assigned to the Sullivan County Cowan YDNA Group based on YDNA dissimilarity analysis. While dissimilarity estimates suggest a relatively recent common ancestor, the comparisons can be made for these kits only at the 12 marker level, and these results are not considered to be definitive. Other kits in the Sullivan County group that tested at 37 markers or more do not match well with the kit for Jeremiah Cowan, with dissimilarity values exceeding 20%. While current data suggests that the best fit for kit 134467 is with the Sullivan County Group, this match is not considered definitive.
