274. Alexander Semple, eldedest son of James or "English" Semple, was born in London, April 29, 1805; emigrated to America, May, 1848; died at Warehouse Point, Ct., July 5, 1873. Married Jeannette Buchanan (born February 11, 1806), granddaughter of James Buchanan (of Kilbarchan), antiquarian and intimate friend of the poet, Robert Tannahill. James Buchanan, grandfather of Jeannette was a descendant of the distinguished reformer and Latin Poet, George Buchanan (born February, 1506), whose family descended from Prince Ansela, who, in 1016, lent his assistance to King Malcolm the Second, in repelling the Danes.^S1
