!BIRTH-NAME-PARENTS-RESIDENCES-MARRIAGE-DEATH: "Duon et non d'Eon," LA SOCIETE HISTORIQUE ACADIENNE, Cahier; ; 21 (1968), vol. 3, no. 1; p. 48-49; in collection of Peggy Walker. This article was a letter from Placide Gaudet, quoting entries from the parish records of Acadia. First: on 27 Feb 1713, at Port Royal by F. Justinien DURAND, the "Recollet missionnaire," on a marriage between Jean DUON (son of Jean Louis DUON & Jeanne CLEMENSEAU, "marchand de Lyons," from the parish St. Nizier) and Agnes HEBERT (daughter of Antoine HEBERT & Jeanne CORPORON, inhabitants of the parish of St-Jean Baptiste of Port Royal). The article goes on to state that Jean DUON possessed a good education and became one of the notables of Port Royal, where he died on 5 May 1746. It then quotes from his burial act: 6 May 1746 was interred Jean Baptiste DUON, native of Lyon in France, aged 66 years.
!EDUCATION: He was a notary, and could sign his name, as on his marriage record at Port Royal, Acadie.

Jean-Baptiste Duon dit Lyonnais, born at St.-Nizier de Lyon in c1684, emigrated to Acadia, where he served as a notary, so he must have had some formal education. He married Agnès, 17-year-old daughter of Antoine Hébert, at Port-Royal in c1713; he was 30. Jean-Baptiste dit Lyonnais and Agnès had 13 children, including 10 sons, all born at Port-Royal, eight of whom created families of their own. Their three daughters married into the Mius, Vincent, Landieu, and Loustaneau families. Jean-Baptiste dit Lyonnais died at Port-Royal in May 1746; he was 65.
