Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 6, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :

Wills, James - born 7/17/1763 in Chester County, Pennsylvania; moved abt age 10 to Montgomery County, Virginia, thence in 1820 to Clay County, Missouri, where granted Pension in 1832; son James there resided then; soldier's last Pension payment in file in 1842; query letter in file states soldier died abt. 1857 age 103 in Ray County, Missouri, & widow Lillian Buchanan Wills died in Tennessee. F-S17198, R2601.

    Ray County, Missouri
    1763-1855

    James Wills assisted in establishing American Independence
    as a Private, Capt. Burns’ Company, Col. William’s
    Regiment, Virginia Militia. He also provided patriotic service
    as a blacksmith for Lt. Daniel Howe. His service is
    documented in his pension application S17198 at the U.S.
    National Archives & Records Administration. He received a
    pension starting 13 May 1834 for his service.
    James (son of George and Juda Wills) was born 17 July
    1763, Chester County, Pennsylvania; died 17 August 1855,
    Ray County, Missouri; and buried at the Old New Garden
    Church Cemetery, Ray County, Missouri. James married
    Lillian Buchanan in 1791, Augusta County, Virginia. Lillian
    (daughter of Archibald Buchanan and Agnes Bowen) was
    born 1765, Augusta County, Virginia; and died 17 August
    1855, Ray County, Missouri. Children
     Archibald Wills (1792-1877).
     Mary Wills (1794-1837).
     Susan Wills (1796- ).
     George Wills (1798- ). George married Sarah Shackleford.
     James Wills (1799-1875). James married Amy
    Shackleford.
     Margaret Wills (1801- ).
     David Wills (1804- ). David married Mary Elizabeth Creek.
