Facts and Events
James Sweeney was born on 17th August 1884 at Penninghame in Wigtownshire, son of Janet Sweeney, formerly Milroy, and her husband Michael Sweeney, an agricultural labourer. James appears in both the 1891 and 1901 censuses living at Penninghame (which parish included Newton Stewart). By 1901 he was working as a carter on a farm. He has yet to be traced after 1901, but appears to have been still alive in 1911, judging by the answer his mother gave to the 1911 census.
