"April 1791 from "Records of Onslow County, N.C. 1734-1850" by Gwynn. Deed Book Q (1789-1791) #48 WILLIAM CRAY to JOHN FARR for 161 pounds, all his right in the land purchased of JAMES RUSSELL, deceased by CRAY AND FARR Oct. 15, 1734 then in co partnership of trade and the land never divided (JLB Note: 1734 date is correct) 250 acres on east side of main NW branch of New River at Farr's line. Test: WILLIAM H. HILL, JOHN STARKEY, SAMUEL JOVILEU. JLB Note: It could be that this James Russell was in Darlington in the 1790 census and died between then and April 1791. He could have been about 25 when he went into business with Cray."
