James (Jim) Myron Papachek, 56, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of Hamar, ND, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014 at his home in Jamestown.

Visitation will be Wednesday July 9 beginning at 6 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Aaker Funeral Home, Lakota, ND. Memorial services will be held Thursday July 10 at 2 p.m. at Warwick Lutheran Church, Warwick, ND with visitation one hour prior to services. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #162, Tolna, ND. Interment will be in the Warwick Cemetery.

Jim, son of Myron and Bonnie (Gillett) Papachek was born on February 26, 1958 in Devils Lake, ND. He was baptized and confirmed at the Warwick Lutheran Church. He attended schools in Warwick and Tolna, graduating from Tolna High School in 1976. He was a member of the North Dakota National Guard. He married Linda Shereck in 1981. Jim worked for Farmers Union and various jobs in the York, ND area and for Vigen Construction in Leeds, ND plus traveled to various states with Vigen building concrete elevators. He was a member of the American Legion and served on the York Park Board for many years. In 2010, Jim moved to Jamestown, ND and worked in maintenance at the Two Rivers Inn motels and for The Jamestown Sun newspaper up until the time of his death.

Jim will be remembered by his family and many friends for always having a friendly smile and always willing to help others.

He took pride in his work and was very meticulous. A favorite pastime was playing cards, especially pinochle, and listening to music.

He enjoyed watching sports and especially enjoyed wrestling and Nascar racing. A highlight was going to the Nascar races in Florida with his boss, JR. He had many names and was known as Jim, Jimmy, Smiley, JP, Papa Jim and also Jimmy boppereno, given by his brother-in-law. His favorite, must have food, was "green olives". Forever Loved Forever in our Hearts Jim will be deeply missed by his mother Bonnie of Hamar; sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Vince Schneider of Hawley, MN; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Curt Rekkedal of Portsmouth, VA; treasured grandsons, Curtis James (CJ) and Chase Rekkedal; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Myron and grandparents.

The family holds a special place in their hearts for JR Lang, Sally Chesterfield, and Arden Warner, who were such dear friends to Jim. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Warwick Cemetery or the Warwick Lutheran Church.
