From the Springfield Leader, Wednesday Evening, April 30, 1941: James Thomas McKee, 87, retired building contractor, died last night athis home at 1515 West Thoman. Despite his age, Mr. McKee had been ingood health until last Christmas, when he contracted a flu from which henever recovered. Mr. McKee was born and spent his entire life in Springfield. His wife,Mrs. Ada Lathim McKee died 25 years ago, and 15 years ago Mr. McKeeretired. Surviving him are one daughter, Mrs. Joseph J. Garner of Springfield,four sons, Ralph McKee and James T. McKee, Jr. of Springfield, and Rayand Frank McKee of St. Louis; nine grandchildren and one greatgranddaughter. The funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock inthe Herman Lohmeyer chapel; burial will be in Brick church cemetery. TheReverend Walter Prophet will officiate. Pallbearers will be Claude Hogan,George McGuire, John Hubbard, Earl Cooper, Sherman Bradley and RalphOsborn. His body was interred in Greene County, Missouri, Antioch/BrickCemetery. |
