He fought in the battle at Wounded Knee, South Dakota, 29 Dec 1890 and on the following day, in an engagment on White Clay Creek received the wound, which ultimately caused his death. [From a document signed by Colonel Forsyth, lst Lieutenant 7th Cavalry Adjutant.] He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
