James Hornet was baptised on 21st August 1763 at Codicote in Hertfordshire, son of Mary Hornet, formerly Mailes, and her husband George Hornet. The baptism describes the family as being of Graveley, several miles north of Codicote, although his parents appear to have moved to Welwyn just south of Codicote after James's birth. James has yet to be traced after his baptism.
