James Hooke (son of William Hooke and Sarah Campbell), born 1773, died Oct. 11, 1844, at 5 o'clock in the morning, Xenia, Greene County, Ohio. He was a Whig in politics. He married Mary (Polly) Lewis, Jan. 25, 1798, in Augusta Co., Va. They have descendants in Ohio and other states. Mary Lewis was the daughter of Anthony Lewis, sergeant of Inf. Revolutionary War.
Mary Lewis Hooke was a cousin of Gen. Samuel Lewis, of the Shenandoah River.
