    "Holman. The first of this family of whom we have definite knowledge is Captain James Holman, Sr. he was one of the earliest justices of Goochland Co., Virginia (1728) and member of the House of Burgesses from Goochland. He died June 1759. Captain James Holman,Jr. his son, died in Cumberland Co., Virginia Nov 1761. Sarah Holman, a daughter of Captain James, Jr. and Jane, His wife, married Anthony Martin, or Antoin La Martine, who was a descendant of a distinguished French Huguenot family long settled at Manikin-town, Powhatana Co.,Virginia. James Martin, the only son of Anthony Martin and Sarah, his wife, married Ester Smith, daughter of Reverend George Smith, of Powhatan Co., Virginia, and later, with his family, of Franklin Co., Kentucky. William Holman Martin, son of James and Ester Smith Martin, married Susanna Smith Hale. Their daughter Catherine Jane Martin, married Warren Viley, of Woodford Co., Kentucky.
