BIRTH: I estimate his birth as circa 1745 and marriage as circa 1765 based on the 1800 Wake County census records of his children. BIRTH: Benjamin 26 to 46 years old which would be 1774 to 1754. He had one son, who would have been Green Berry listed as 0 to 10 years old. We know he was born in 1796. so Benjamin more likely born circa 1770. WILL: !James' will was dated 22 Nov 1797 in Wake Co, NC. He wrote: "...I James Holland Cenr. of Wake County and State of NorthCarolina being in a low state of health but Of perfect mind and memory Thanks be to god and knowing the Mortality of my body and that it is appointed Unto man once to Die I do Constitute and ordain this my last will and testament... ...to be buried in a Christian manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter mentined and so for what worthy Estate it Has pleased godto bless me with I dispose of in manner and Forme following Item I give to my well-beloved wife Sarey Holland all my stock of hogs horses and Cattle and of all Coinds and all my house firneture and Every Coind on necessary Atord living that I am pirsest with at this time hir life Time And hir life time in theland and plantation where I now Live and after hir Decease the land to be Devided... Item I give Unto my beloved Children Sampson Holland Thomas Holland Mary Lashley Milley Hood James Holland Junr. Sary Thomas all the Stock of And necesssarys above mentioned to be Equilley Devided Betwen the Six Children..." He appointed Benjamin and Richard to be the executors of his will. Inthe Wake County March Session 1798 the will was proven. It was recorded in the Clerks Office in the County of Wake, in Book E and page 133 the 2nd day of May 1798.
