Their marriage date is estimated from the age of their oldest child as indicated in the 1850 census--Newport., Campbell, KY (#104) XMARRIAGE: !DEATH: Tombstone (Amelia Cem., Amelia, Clermont, Ohio). The Tombstone has birth dates & death dates of both husband and wife as well as apparently that of that of a daughter CENSUS--1840: Clermont, Co., Ohio James HICKS b. 1810-1820 Wife b. 1810-1820 Daughter b. 1835-1840 [Manda] CENSUS--1850: Newport, Campbell, Ky. (#104) James HICKS 38 M Lumber Merchant O. Caroline 28 F O. Manda? 11 F O. [Anna Marie?] Sarah 9 F O. Wm. 7 M O. Mary 5 F O. Georgia Anna 3 F O. (No James Hicks in Cler. Co., OH; apparently moved to KY between the last time he was mentioned in a Cler. Co. rec.--1847, and 1850) NOTE: "Anna Marie WHITE (26 Mar 1839- 21 Nov 1882)" is on same tombstone as James and Caroline HICKS. She is the "Manda" mentioned in the 1850 census. The tombstone dates are consistent with the census age. Furthermore, Cler. Co., OH mar. rec. show: "Ann Maria Hicks, 19 to William H, White, 20; 7 Oct 1857 (v 7, p 234) LAND: Owned property at Moscow, Wash. twp., Clermont, Ohio at the time he died.
