The death of James L. Hamilton of Union Twp, which occurred Monday evening at the family residence, removes from the community one of the most respected residents of that locality. For many months he had been in failing health, having been a sufferer from a chronic disorder and the malady finally sapped his life away. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, 79 years ago, and received his early education in his native land. When he reached the age of manhood he crossed the water and settled in Union Twp on the farm where his life was spent. He followed the occupation of a farmer and was a very successful agriculturalist. Mr. Hamilton was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church of this city and he was a man who carried his religious convictions into his every day life. He took an active interest in public affairs and his influence was always to be found on the side of right.

Mr. Hamilton was held in high respect by all and his death will be a decided loss to the community in which he lived. He is survived by 7 children who are Mrs. M I Kifer of DuBois, PA, Mrs JE Stevenson, Mrs William Moore, J Albert and Charles Edward Hamilton and the Misses Ameria and Anna F Hamilton, The funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 PM from the Central Presbyterian Church and interment will be at Greenwood. The coaches will be from Dunn and Rice’s.
