Spouse: Matilda Gregg (1819 - 1873)
US Congressman. Elected as a Democrat to represent Indiana's 6th District in the Thirty-fifth Congress, he served from March 4, 1857 to March 3, 1859. Gregg had a public school education in his native Patrick County, Virginia, studied law privately, and in 1830 settled in Danville, Indiana as an attorney. In addition to his practice he served as Surveyor of Hendricks County (1834 to 1837) and as a clerk of the Circuit Court (1837 to 1845). Gregg's Congressional service was uneventful and he was defeated for reelection in 1858. Apart from one term in the Indiana House of Representatives (1862) he devoted himself to his Danville law firm until his death 10 days before his 60th birthday. (bio by: Bobb Edwards)
