About Rev. James Craig
Rev. James Craig was born 1724 in Westminster, London, England. He came to America in 1755, served as Rector of Cumberland Parish from 1759-1796 in Lunenburg County, Virginia and married Mary Booker Tarry in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, on 19 February 1766. They had several children together that were listed in his will written on 3 November 1789 in Lunenburg County, Virginia, probated in 1795. Rev. Craig performed many marriages in Lunenburg County, Virginia during his lifetime, many of which are listed in Virginig Marriage Records.

"The Rever'd. Mr. James Craig by his consent and the unanimous consent of this vestry is received into this Parish as Rector of the same. Ordered that the Rever'd. Mr. James Craig be allowed forty pounds per annum for his Board till the Glebe is completed. Ordered the Glebe Buildings be Lett according to an order of Vestry made August 10th, 1761."
