Overview

Jacob is known from only a single 1748 record in Chalkely's chronicles, identifying him as Jacob Sr. He, along with a Jacob Patterson Jr. are shown as "Delinquent, twice charged". We can probably infer that Jacob Sr. is Jacob Jr.s father, though they could have other relationships. IfIf Jacob Sr. is indeed the father than we can probably guess that Jacob Jr, an adult in 1748, would have been born before 1728, and that Jacob Sr's. marriage would have occurred by about 1727, and would have been born before c1708, and likely much earlier. Jacob Sr, then would be a contemporary of the other very early Patterson settlers in Old Augusta, such as William Patterson (75) whose son Robert settled here about 1740.

We have no basis, either in the records in Chalkley's Chronicles, or elsewhere, that would allow us to associate Jacob Jr. or his father, with any of these other early patriarchical lineages. It may be that they are in deed related to one or another of these lines, but current data does not provide any evidence of this connection.

In anycase, Jacob Jr. or Sr seem to have left no substantive imprint on the Old Augusta community. Nor has anyone been identified traceing descent from them. Where they came from, where they went, is entirely unknown.
