Dorothy Lathrop (mentioned by another poster on this forum) is also a member of DAR, but I don't have a copy of her application to know where she listed Jacob's birthplace. I will have to send for it. In her Lash booklet, she does mention "Jacob Lash, about 1740, when a young man of 17 years, left his home, 60 miles from Berlin, Germany, to seek his fortune in the New World. He was dissatisfied with his service in the German Army and left without telling his parents. He came on a sailing vessel to Philadelphia, then settled in New Jersey and married. His oldest son, Jacob II, was born in 1752." Jacob and quite a few Lashes and Yosts are buried at the Farmington Cemetery in Belmont Co., OH. The cemetery is on the Internet. Inscription on Jacob's gravestone is as follows: "In Memory of Jacob Lash & His Wife Elizabeth Yost
Both are buried on the west side of the farm located at the northwest corner of the junction of county roads #18 & #20. Jacob Lash Jr -A Revolutionary War Patriot - State of Pennsylvania. References
