  9. ↑ There is a good chance that his birth year was actually later than 1815, given that his youngest sister was born in 1843 - an age range of 28 years for the children of one woman is unusually long. The earliest census record I could find (1830) supports a birth year of 1816 to 1820.
    It is also possible that Eve was his father's second wife, and that Jacob was the son of the first wife, although it should also be noted that his father was only 18 in 1815 (if his age at death is correct).
