  • Vol. 2 - Looker vs. Dunkinson--O. S. 376; N. S. 137--Bill, 6th January, 1823, by Sarah Loker, widow, of Rockingham. Her father, John Reeves, of Rockingham, died, testate; will dated 5th May, 1799, and died in same year, leaving representatives, widow, Margaret, who died intestate and unmarried, 1814, and children, viz: Oratrix, William, John, Mary Reeves; Lydia, wife of Elijah Moore, of whom William died, 1807, leaving nine children, viz: Reuben, Phoebe, Lydia, John, Thos., who were all in being at the date of the will, and four others, viz: Cressy, who died infant, Polly, Brewer, William, born after death of testator. John, other son of testator, died, intestate, unmarried, and without issue, about 1819. Mary Reeves married Charles Moore and had one child, Edith. Mary died 1810; Edith died 1816. Lidia Moore had at testator's death children still alive. Thomas Dunkanson qualified administrator for testator and moved to Kentucky. Ro. Dunkeson deposes, nephew of said John Reeves, Jr., and son of Thos. Dunkinson. His father settled in Christian County, and sent deponent to Hopkins County to school to said John Reeves. About Christmas time John married Miss Sally Taylor, daughter of Isaac Taylor of Hopkins County; then John moved to Illinois, where Jno. died, leaving one child, Isaac. Will of John Reeves, of Rockingham. William Reeves's five children, viz: Reuben, Phoebe, Lydia, John, Thos. and William's wife. Eve. Wife, Margaret. Four children, Sarah Lokey, John and Mary Reeves and Lydia Moore. Executor, Thos. Dunkanson. Son-in-law, Elijah Moore. Dated 5th May, 1799. Recorded in Rockingham, July, 1799. Deed, dated 30th March, 1815, by executor of John Reeves to John Homan, Jr., of Rockingham, 390 acres, directed by Reeves's will to be sold. Recorded in Rockingham, 30th March, 1815. Deed, 26th May, 1824, by Daniel Matthews of Rockingham to Henry Shaver of Botetourt, 50 acres in Rockingham, on a hill known as Round Hill, between Linville's and Smith Creek, part of tract purchased by Daniel from his father, Solomon, which was first granted to Jacob Lincoln by patent (?). Recorded in Rockingham, 6th September, 1824.

Isaac Taylor was the son of Isaac Taylor (??). Isaac was married to Elizabeth Nix about 1791. Isaac and Elizabeth had the following children: Susanna Allen, Sally Reeves Judy Peters, John Taylor, Thomas Taylor, Hannah Nix Barnett Barnett, Ambrose Taylor, Margaret Vanmeter Love Judy.
Note: another possibility: Isaac Taylor, needs further research/sources.

ISAAC TAYLOR was born between 1755 and 1760. He married ELIZABETH NANCY NIX, daughter of AMBROSE NIX [1730/40-1819] and HANNAH (--?--), circa 1790. He died between 1840 and 1850 in Greene Co., IL. They had the following children:
1. SUSANNA TAYLOR was born circa 1792 in SC. She married BENJAMIN ALLEN on October 5, 1815 in Hopkins Co., KY. She died in 1861 in Greene Co., IL. She was buried circa 1862 in Taylor Cemetery, Rockbridge, Greene Co., IL.
2. SALLY TAYLOR was born circa 1793 in SC. She married JOHN REEVES, son of JOHN REEVES and MARGARET (--?--), on January 11, 1816 in Hopkins Co., KY.
3. JOHN TAYLOR married SUSANNAH NIX, daughter of JOHN NIX and WINNIFRED (--?--). He was born circa 1794 in SC. He died in 1871 in Greene Co., IL.
4. HANNAH TAYLOR was born circa 1802 in SC. She married TEMPLE NIX, son of JOHN NIX and WINNIFRED (--?--), on August 22, 1818 in Madison Co., IL. She married BENJAMIN FRANKLIN BARNETT on March 28, 1834 in Greene Co., IL.
5. AMBROSE TAYLOR was buried in Taylor Cemetery, Rockbridge, Greene Co., IL. He was born circa 1803 in KY. He married NANCY COURTNEY, daughter of WILLIAM COURTNEY, on March 16, 1823 in Greene Co., IL. He died on March 7, 1864.
6. MARGARET TAYLOR was also known as PEGGY TAYLOR. She was born circa 1806 in KY. She married JOSEPH VANMETER on June 2, 1822 in Greene Co., IL. She married JOHN LOVE circa 1833. She married SAMUEL JUDY, son of SAMUEL JUDY and MARGARET WHITESIDE, on November 30, 1846 in Greene Co., IL. She died on October 20, 1865. She was buried in Taylor Cemetery, Rockbridge, Greene Co., IL.
7. THOMAS TAYLOR married CATHERINE VANMETER on November 28, 1822 in Greene Co., IL. He married JEAN COURTNEY on May 2, 1824 in Greene Co., IL. He married ELIZABETH LUSK in 1835 in Greene Co., IL. He died in 1837.
