'SHANTZ, ISAAC [son of Isaac and Barbara (Reiff) Shantz], was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, April 23rd, 1783. On October 15th, 1808, he was married to Esther, daughter of George and Elizabeth (Morris) Bechtel. She was born February 2nd, 1786, and died near Berlin [Kitchener], Ontario, July 24th, 1867. In 1808 Mr. Shantz, in company with his mother, his brother Joseph, and his sister, Veronica, moved to Canada, and settled on the farm now in possession of Abraham H. Wamboldt [footnote: This farm is a little to the south-east of Berlin]. Here he resided until his death which took place December 12th, 1854.'

'SHANTZ, JOSEPH, ... In May, 1808, his mother, with her three youngest children, David, Veronica, and Joseph, who was then only thirteen years of age, moved to Canada and arrived in Waterloo County in June.'

Other information in the same book contradicts the list of children who immigrated with their mother. David apparently immigrated in 1809, and it was Isaac who immigrated with his mother and two younger siblings (Joseph and Veronica).
