Facts and Events
(Tim's note; The exact relatioships of the Isaac Morrows is uncertain. Land records refer to Isaac Morrow Sr. and Jr. and one indicates that Isaac was a son of George Morrow - if they were father and son, then the elder would the son of George and Elizabeth. Alternatively, there could have been an older cousin or other man named Isaac, distinguished in the records as Isaac Sr. Given the estimated birthdates for George M. and Isaac m. Elizabeth, there’s not much room for another generation. Mecklenburg Co. Court records - April Term 1802; "Ordered by the Court that William Grigs an orphan of Edmond Grigs be bound to Isaac Morrow until he is of age being seven years old the 10th day of June next to learn him the trade of a Cooper and is to give him a full set of Cooper's tools. Exclusion of what the law allows." (Note; in the same records are the mention of other orphan children of Edmond Grigs - Hugh Grigs (now about 9 years); Betsy Grigs (abt 5 years old.) (Tim's note - this record indicates an elder Isaac Morrow. If Isaac that married Elizabeth Morrow was born about 1798 as inferred from the census records, he would have only been 4 years old.) 8/2/1832 A Mecklenburg Co. deed dated 8/2/1832, recorded 7/27/1834 and found in Book 25 (index to grantees says Book 23), page 241, for property on Beaverdam Creek in the northern part of Meck. Co sold from Wm. Lee Davi(d)son to Isaac Morrow, (197 acres for $97) says that Isaac was the son of George (Geor'd) Morrow, who owned the land previously and sold it to Davidson. The same property was shortly after sold from Isaac Morrow to John White Morrow (no relationship indicated) 1/1/1833, recorded 10/2/1833 and listed in Book 25 (Index says 23), pg 72. 1/1/1833 Isaac Morrow sells to John White Morrow for $200, a 130 acre tract land (apparently subdivided from the original tracts, leaving about 70 acres for Isaac) on the headwaters of Beaverdam Creek, formerly owned by Wm. Lee Davidson and sold to Isaac. Description begins at "Alexander Warsham's corner". A land sale from 1824 refers to "Isaac Morrow, Junr." and one from 1841 apparently lists Isaac Morrow, Sr. though that record is not where it is listed according to the Deed Index and has not been verified. 11/18/1824 Thomas and Andrew Waggoner sell to Isaac Morrow (named "Junr.", several times in the deed) 93 acres, on the headwaters of Beaverdam Creek. The tract formerly belonging to Rebecca Miller, sold to John Coffey in 1818 and sold to Thomas and Andrew Waggoner 11/27/1818. Description mentions "Jeremiah Burton's Spring", "Connelly Corner" and "Jetton's Corner". Witnessed by George Morrow and Robert B. Morrow.
(Tim's note -all or part of the Isaac Morrow family apparently moved to Bartow Co., GA between 1850 and 1860. Son George Peyton enlisted in the CSA. Other Morrows- John Morrow and J.R. also enlisted from Bartow Co. : Bartow County Georgia Company K 18th Regiment Morrow, John- private June 13, 1861. Wounded at 2d Manassas, Va. August 30,1862. Died of wounds September 25,1862. Bartow County Georgia Company I 63rd Regiment Morrow, J. R. - private December 23, 1862. Declared unfit for field duty, November 9, 1864. Deserted. (Tim's note - Is J. R. Morrow, the Joseph R. Morrow that was bondsman for the marriage of Nancy Keziah Morrow? Joseph Morrow is in the 1850 Meck. Co., NC census and disappears after that.)
