... Isaac Hall, Jr. (Redding Ridge), Samuel Hall (Redding Ridge), Moses Knapp (Redding Ridge) and John Read (Lonetown) are the settlers known to have settled in Redding prior to 1720. The farms of Isaac and Samuel were contiguous, Redding Ridge, called Chestnut Ridge by the settlers, was desirable to the early settlers because it ran along a path stretching from Danbury to Fairfield. It appears his brothers Francis and John Hall remained in Stratford and sold their portion of the land to Moses Knapp, who was their cousin. In 1709 an Indian Deed was given to Isaac Hall, Jr., Francis Hall and John Hall by seven Indians: Mohaki, Coocongo, Tom, Harry, Old Multeg, Siachim, Young Multeg. (This apparently is the same land granted to father Isaac for his services in the Indian wars.) The dee of 150 acres cost the Halls 50 shillings. The land was north of Cross Highway and Church Hill to the Bethel line (Hopewell Woods/Sunset Hill). ...
... In Isaac Hall's will, dated 17 Apr 1736 and proved 01 Aug 1741, he names son Asa and his wife executors, she to have use of all lands for her natural life. He leaves his home lot and "all my doctor Books, Chirgeons implements and Carpenter tools" to son Asa. He also makes bequests to daughters Jean Guire, Lidea Jud, Anne Corns and to sons Burgers and Joshua and grandson David Hall. ...
