Facts and Events
Isaac Gray was one of the Early Settlers of Augusta County, Virginia __________________________ [edit] Possible parentage of Isaac GrayIsaac Gray is not listed in the will of John Gray, who settled and acquired land in the Borden Tract with several of his sons, but he is possibly an older son of John Gray, based upon the fact that Isaac acquired land very nearby John Gray in 1751 and sold his tract in the Borden Tract to Jacob Gray, a son of John Gray and possible sibling. The 270-acre tract of Isaac Gray is actually the closest in proximity to John Gray of any of his possible siblings in the Borden Tract (see Hildebrand Map below). Additional research is necessary to prove this relationship. He appears to have moved from the Augusta County, Virginia area shortly after acquiring and selling his land in the Borden Tract (acquired in 1751, sold in 1752) for parts unknown, perhaps indicating a dispute with his father, who had died in 1751, and siblings. There are few records of him in Augusta County. [edit] Early Land Acquisition in Augusta County, VAIsaac Gray's land (Borden Tract SW, 270 acres, 1751) as shown on the map meticulously drawn by J.R.
