Notes

From Rootsweb Message Board:
...Isaac Davis, a lad of 6, were among those known to have been taken by shawnees at Polke`s Station in 1782 in what was then Nelson, Co. Kentucky. In general, the adults captured at these 2 stations were sold to the british, the children were kept and later adopted. In all, there were 37 people captured at Polke`s Station, few which have been identified, & there may have been other members of the Davis family among them.

In the "History of Nelson Co, Kentucky" p.31 - Kincheloe's Station and Polke's Stations -then called Burnt Station 1781-1782: "The year in which the station was taken and burnt, is not ascertained. It must have been 1781 or 1782. Isaac DAVIS said he was about six years of age when the station was burnt. He was taken prisoner. A hunter said he saw the Indians pass going toward Bullitts Lick." Another quote from the above article is from Nelson Co, KY depostition Book D p.22 (the book & page are in the article, don't know if correct) - Deposition of Isaac Davis: In the spring of 1780, a certain John Suddoth employed this deponent to show him land to lay warrants on for himself, for Thomas Suddoth and for Wm. May. We proceeded from what is called the Burnt Station on to the southwest fork of Simpson's Creek. The said Suddoth liked the land up the creek and said he would enter his own 1000 acres warrant here. Capt. Kincheloe wrote him a location by this deponents direction. (my note: this Isaac Davis is a grown man at the same time the other Isaac Davis is about 4 to 6 years old).
Then in an article that I did not document correctly or have lost, it said that: Isaac Davis was taken prisoner (6 years old) but lived and was later released. He was the son of Cornelius Davis.
