Isaac Damon served our country in the Revolutionary War. His pension file proves his service. A transcript of his deposition follows:

State of Massachusetts County of Hampshire

On the eighth day of August 1832 personally appeared before the Judge of the Court of the Probate of Wills in said county, Isaac Damon, a resident of Chesterfield in the County of Hampshire and State of Massachusetts aged 69 nery near 70 years, who fisrst being duly sworn, according to law, doth , on his oath, make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the Act of Congress, passed June 7, 1832. That he enlisted in the army of the United States in the year 1780, with Capt. Luther Bayley and served in the Massachusetts regiment of the Continental Line under the following named officers: Capt. Luther Bayley in Col. Bayley's regiment, paymaster Adam Bayley, (and Lieut. Arad Topper) three brothers. Other officers not recollected. He was like to be draughted to go into the continental service & enlisted in June in said year at said Chesterfield for 6 months, to fill up vacancies. He was mustered at Springfield Mass, came home & took his clothes. then returned to Springfield there through Litchfield reached there Sunday thence to West Point. there joined the continental regiment under the above named officers. there drilled awhile under a sergeant nearly a month. then marched to the Jerseys. The day before they marched they drew their guns. Stationed at different places, Orangetown, Hackensack, Liberty Pole Plain, etc. He saw Andre (Major John Andre was captured with the plans to West Point in his boot. The plans having been delivered by Benedict Arnold.) executed. He served 6 months. Was marched to West Point, went into winter quarters at Fort Arnold & there discharged the week after Thanksgiving. If he received a discharge it is Post. On his return he drew provision at Litchfield. He supposes his name is on the roles. He was born at Scituate was six years old when his father moved to Chesterfield aforesaid & has since resided there. He knows of no one living who can testify to said term of service. He has never received one cent for his services.
